Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the conviction of the appellants under Section 376(2)(g) IPC for the gang rape of the prosecutrix, affirming the trial court's sentence of 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine. The Court found that despite the hostile testimonies of some witnesses, the prosecutrix's account was credible and corroborated by medical evidence. The acquittal of the appellants under The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 was also noted, but the conviction under IPC was maintained.
