The Supreme Court allowed the appeal, permitting the appellants to compound the offences under Section 320 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. The Court set aside the High Court's order and acquitted the appellants of the charges under Sections 141, 142, 143, 148, 149, 307, and 324 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. The Court imposed a cost of Rs. 15,000 on each accused for wasting judicial time, to be deposited in the Supreme Court Employees' Mutual Welfare Fund.
