Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court addressed the powers of the writ court under Article 226 of the Constitution concerning the correction of manifest errors in notifications issued under Section 48(1) of the Land Acquisition Act. The Court held that the Division Bench of the Karnataka High Court erred in setting aside the Single Judge's order, which had declared the notification dated 05.10.1999 as non est in law, as there is no provision for recalling such notifications. The Court reinstated the Single Judge's decision, affirming the finality of the acquisition as of 09.12.1983.
