UCO BANK vs SUSHIL KUMAR SAHA

The Supreme Court held that the disciplinary authority of the erstwhile place of posting can initiate and complete disciplinary proceedings against erring officials, even if they are later posted under different administrative jurisdictions. The Court found that the High Court erred in ruling that only the Deputy General Manager had the authority to initiate such proceedings, as per the UCO Bank (Discipline and Appeal) Regulations, 1976. The Court set aside the High Court's order, thereby allowing the disciplinary proceedings to continue against the respondent.
