Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court modified the sentence of the appellants Dilip Kumar Verma and Kuldeep Verma, reducing their imprisonment from 5 years to 3 years for offences under Section 27 of the Arms Act and Section 506, part 2 IPC, while maintaining the fine and sentences for other offences under Sections 504 IPC and Section 3(i)(x) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act. The Court held that the peculiar facts and circumstances warranted a reduction in the sentence. The appeals were disposed of with the modified sentences running concurrently.
