Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court allowed the appeal in part, modifying the High Court's order by directing the respondents to pay the appellant Rupees one lakh as full and final settlement for back wages. The Court noted that the parties had reached an amicable settlement, and thus, it was unnecessary to delve into the legal arguments regarding the entitlement to back wages under the precedents cited, including U.P. State Brassware Corpn. Ltd. v. Uday Narain Pandey and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan v. S.C. Sharma. The payment is to be made within three months, failing which interest at 10% per annum will accrue from the date of the judgment.
