Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court ruled that the appellants, who were admitted to MBBS courses in Kerala despite not meeting the Medical Council of India (MCI) eligibility criteria, should be allowed to continue their studies. The Court found that the discrepancy between the MCI Regulations and the Prospectus issued by the colleges was a bona fide mistake, and the appellants were innocent victims of this error. The Court emphasized that penalizing the students for an omission not of their making would be unjust, thus allowing them to complete their MBBS course.
