Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court addressed the issue of whether a vehicle was insured at the time of an accident under the Workmen’s Compensation Act, 1923. The Court found that the High Court's conclusion, which stated the vehicle was not insured on the date of the accident (3rd April 1998), was correct, as the insurance coverage was from 3rd March 1997 to 2nd March 1998. Consequently, the Court upheld the High Court's decision, placing the liability for compensation on the vehicle owner rather than the Insurance Company.
