Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court, while adjudicating an appeal under Section 38 of the Advocates Act, 1961, upheld the decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the Bar Council of India which dismissed the complaint against the respondent for alleged misconduct under Section 35 of the Act. The Court found that the allegations of negligence and failure to communicate regarding the Land Acquisition Reference No. 14 of 1982 did not constitute sufficient grounds for misconduct as defined under the Act. Consequently, the appeal was dismissed, affirming the Committee's ruling that no case of misconduct was established.
