Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court addressed the modification of the scheme for filling Non-Resident Indian (NRI) seats in medical and dental colleges under the Madhya Pradesh Niji Vyavsayik Shikshan Sanstha (Pravesh Ka Viniyaman Avam Shulk ka Nirdharan) Adhiniyam, 2007. The Court reiterated that unfilled NRI seats must be transferred to the general pool and filled based on merit from the state-level entrance test, as established in R.D. Gardi Medical College v. State of Madhya Pradesh (2010) 10 SCC 225. The Court upheld the previous arrangements for the academic years 2009-10 and 2010-11, continuing the same for 2011-12, thereby maintaining the integrity of the admission process.
