Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court upheld the dismissal of the appellant's writ petition challenging his rejection for the Munsif position due to age limitations under Rule 7 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Judicial) Recruitment Rules, 1967. The Court confirmed that the appellant, being overage by eleven months, did not meet the eligibility criteria which stipulates a maximum age of 35 years as of January 1 of the examination year. The Court found no merit in the argument regarding age relaxation for Scheduled Tribe candidates, thus affirming the High Court's decision.
