The Supreme Court examined the sentence under Section 307 IPC, noting that only one of the injuries inflicted by the appellant could invoke this section, while the others were deemed simple in nature. Given that the incident occurred in 1993 and considering the time elapsed, the Court found the original sentence of five years' rigorous imprisonment excessive and reduced it to two years.
