Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the conviction of the appellants under Sections 143, 147, 447, 342, and 427 read with Section 149 of the Indian Penal Code. The Court noted that while offences under Sections 143 and 147 are non-compoundable, the remaining offences are compoundable. Given that the parties had reached a compromise, the Court reduced the sentence of the appellants to the time already served. Consequently, the appeal was dismissed, and the appellants' bail bonds were discharged.
