Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the applications for contempt proceedings filed by Abdul Gani Bhat against the Chairman of the Islamia College Governing Board, holding that the order dated 24.3.2006 was not defective as it was passed in the presence of the petitioner. The Court noted that the petitioner failed to bring any pending matters to the attention of the bench at that time and found no valid grounds to recall the order after a significant time lapse. The applications were dismissed as the previous contempt petitions had already been rejected.
