Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's decision in Appeal Suit No. 774 of 1989, affirming that the properties in question were validly bequeathed by late Arumugha Mudaliar through a registered will dated October 11, 1984. The Court established that the adoption of Santhilkumar was valid under Hindu Law, and the properties were not ancestral, thus allowing the testator to dispose of them as he wished. The appeal by Saroja, the widow of Arumugha Mudaliar's son, was dismissed, confirming the plaintiffs' rights to the properties.
