Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, as amended by the Land Acquisition (Amendment) Act, 1984, should be read into the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, particularly Section 11A, for land acquisition purposes. The Court found that the previous ruling in State of Maharashtra v. Sant Joginder Singh did not correctly interpret the law and required reconsideration by a larger bench. The appeal was referred to a larger bench for further deliberation on the incorporation of these provisions and the interpretation of Sections 126 and 127 of the MRTP Act.
