Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court examined the constitutional validity of the Roerich and Devika Rani Roerich Estate (Acquisition & Transfer) Act, 1996, and the legal validity of Section 110 of the Karnataka Land Reforms Act, 1961, alongside Notification No. RD 217 LRA 93 dated 8th March, 1994. The Court held that the Acquisition Act is constitutionally valid and that Section 110 of the Land Reforms Act does not infringe upon Article 300A of the Constitution, which protects property rights. The outcome affirmed the legality of the state actions regarding land acquisition and compensation claims.
