Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the amended Delhi High Court Rules, which allow regular first appeals to be heard by a single Judge, do not apply to appeals where hearing has already commenced. The Court emphasized that RFA Nos. 732 and 855 of 2003, having been partially heard by a Division Bench, must continue to be heard by that bench. The Court set aside the orders directing RFA Nos. 878 and 912 of 2003 to be heard by a single Judge, mandating that all four appeals be heard together to ensure consistency in judgment.
