Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court ruled that the limited right granted to Gaddam Sheshamma under the Gift Deed dated 21st December 1952 did not confer upon her the right to alienate the property, as she only had a life interest. The Court held that the subsequent deeds executed by Sheshamma were invalid, affirming the earlier decree in O.S. No. 17 of 1975 which declared that G. Ramireddy retained his rights in the properties. The Court further clarified that the life estate did not convert into an absolute estate under Section 14(1) of the Hindu Succession Act, 1956, as the conditions of the Gift Deed were not met.
