Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court ruled that Letters Patent Appeals (LPAs) are not maintainable against judgments of a Single Judge of the High Court in light of Section 100-A of the Code of Civil Procedure, which prohibits further appeals from such judgments. The Court clarified that the amendment to Section 100-A, effective from 1.7.2002, explicitly bars LPAs, thus upholding the Full Bench's decision of the Orissa High Court. Consequently, the appeals were dismissed, affirming the High Court's ruling.
