Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the conviction of the appellants under Section 326 read with Section 34 IPC and Section 324 read with Section 34 IPC, initially sentencing them to rigorous imprisonment and fines. However, in light of a compromise between the parties and previous judgments, the Court reduced the sentence to the time already served, while enhancing the fine to Rs. 3,000 each, to be paid to the injured parties. The Court emphasized that the offence under Section 326 IPC is non-compoundable under Section 320 CrPC, yet allowed the appeal to be disposed of based on the compromise.
