Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the Rajasthan High Court's decision regarding the qualifications for Junior Accounts Officer (JAO) positions, affirming that the instructions dated 23.07.2002 did not supersede the qualifications set forth in the Central Government's letter dated 24.06.2002. The Court ruled that the appellants, who were permanent employees of the Postal Department, were not entitled to be absorbed into Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) as they did not meet the necessary criteria established for the examination. Consequently, the appeals were dismissed, maintaining the status quo of the High Court's ruling.
