Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court ruled that the respondents, Inspectors Agricultural Minimum Wages, were entitled to parity in pay scale with Inspectors (Co-operative Societies), Extension Officers (Panchayat), and KGO-JLRO, as per the RPA Rules 1981. The Court held that the principle of equal pay for equal work applies, and since the minimum qualifications and pre-revision pay scales were similar, the denial of the higher pay scale to Inspectors-AMW constituted discrimination. The Court directed the state government to revise the pay scales accordingly, granting them Pay Scale No.11 (Rs.425-1050).
