Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court ruled that the respondents, holding the post of Inspector Agricultural Minimum Wages, were entitled to parity in pay scale with Inspectors (Cooperative Societies), Extension Officers (Panchayat), and KGO-JLRO, as per the West Bengal Services Revision of Pay and Allowances Rules, 1981. The Court established that the principle of equal pay for equal work applies, and the respondents were unjustly discriminated against by not being assigned the higher Pay Scale No.11. The Court directed the state government to revise the pay scales accordingly, effective from April 1981.
