Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court addressed the jurisdiction of the High Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, holding that the High Court exceeded its jurisdiction by setting aside the Nazul Officer's order without considering the alternative remedy available under Section 18 of the Revenue Book Circular. The Court also found that the High Court's directive for the Nazul Officer to personally explain his 'misconduct' was unjustified. Consequently, the appeals filed by the State of Madhya Pradesh were allowed, reinstating the Nazul Officer's decision.
