Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the constitutional validity of the 1990 Act, which includes the Gujarat Devasthan Inams Abolition Act, 1969, and its amendment in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. The Court directed the Collector, Ahmedabad, to expeditiously decide the pending claims of the appellants under the 1969 Act, while refraining from expressing any opinion on the merits of the claims. The civil appeals were disposed of without any order as to costs.
