Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the Allahabad High Court's decision directing the U.P. Land Development Corporation to pay the respondents, who were engaged as Assistant Engineers on a contract basis, the salary in the regular pay scale of Rs.2200-4000. The Court found that despite their initial contract terms, the respondents had been working for an extended period and were entitled to the regular pay scale as they fulfilled the qualifications for the post. The Court emphasized that the continuous engagement of the respondents for over three years warranted regularization and appropriate remuneration under the relevant service rules.
