Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the acquittal of Siyaram under Section 307 read with Section 34 IPC, agreeing with the High Court's reasoning that the absence of injury caused by his shot justified the acquittal. However, the Court found the reduction of Jiya Lal's sentence to already undergone inadequate, given the long duration since the offence in 1988, and increased the fine from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000, with a default sentence of 2 years R.I. The appeal was partly allowed accordingly.
