The Supreme Court upheld the conviction of the Appellant under Sections 7(1) and 2(1)(m) of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954, for selling adulterated mustard oil. However, considering the long duration since the offence (27 years) and the Appellant's advanced age and health issues, the Court reduced the sentence to the period already undergone. The Court maintained the conviction but modified the punishment, allowing the appeal in part.
