Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court, while considering Writ Petition (Crl.) No. 22040 of 2008 under Article 32, addressed allegations of contempt against judges of the Bombay High Court made by the petitioners. The Court noted that the petitioners' refusal to withdraw allegations that were prima facie contemptuous necessitated the issuance of notice for contempt proceedings. The Court held that such serious allegations against judicial officers must be approached with caution and directed the matter to be placed before an appropriate bench for further consideration.
