The Supreme Court transferred H.M.A. No.67 of 2009 from the Additional District Judge, New Delhi, to the Family Court in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, following a mutual consent divorce agreement between the parties. The Court decreed a one-time permanent alimony of Rupees twelve lakhs to the wife, to be paid by the husband by a specified date. Additionally, the Court quashed the prosecution of all accused in a related FIR under Sections 498A, 323, and 504 IPC, and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, in light of the settlement.
