Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court granted interim bail to the appellant convicted under Sections 409, 420, 467, 468, 471/465, and 477A IPC, along with Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(c)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, who had served nearly two years of a four-year sentence. The Court noted the lack of possibility for early hearing of the appeal in the High Court and found that the peculiar circumstances warranted the release on bail. The order was made subject to the appellant furnishing a bail bond and surety to the satisfaction of the Special Judge, CBI, Ranchi.
