GINDER SINGH vs STATE OF PUNJAB

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeals filed by Ginder Singh against the Punjab and Haryana High Court's order that reduced his sentence from 15 years to 10 years rigorous imprisonment under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The High Court had also reduced the fine from Rs. 1,50,000 to Rs. 1,00,000, stating that the recovery of contraband did not justify the original sentence. The Court upheld the High Court's decision, concluding that the appeals lacked merit.
