P. DAYANAND

Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that Rule 22 of the Advocates Act prohibits advocates from bidding for or purchasing property sold in execution of a decree in which they are professionally engaged. The Court found that the allegations against the appellants did not constitute a violation of this rule, as there was no evidence that they submitted bids or attempted to purchase property in the relevant proceedings. Consequently, the Bar Council of India's finding of guilt was set aside, and the appeal was allowed.
