K. SHARADARANI SRINIVAS vs SPECIAL LAND ACQUISITION OFFICER

The Supreme Court upheld the principle established in Special Land Acquisition Officer, BTDA, Bagalkot vs. Mohd. Hanif Sahib Bawa Sahib regarding the increase of compensation for acquired land at the rate of ten percent per annum. The Court found that the issue in the present appeal was directly covered by the earlier judgment, which allowed for such an increase based on prior sale deeds. Consequently, the Court restored the award passed by the Reference Court and set aside the High Court's order.
