Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the Patna High Court erred in quashing the private complaint filed under Section 200 Cr.P.C. on the grounds of lack of territorial jurisdiction. The Court established that the Judicial Magistrate, Patna, had the authority to take cognizance of the offences under Sections 406, 420, and 120-B of the IPC, as part of the cause of action arose within Patna due to the appointment letter being delivered there. The appeal was allowed, and the High Court's order was set aside.
