Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the High Court erred in quashing First Information Reports Nos. 315 and 434 of 2000, stating that offences were committed under both the Companies Act and various provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The Court clarified that while jurisdiction for the Companies Act lies in Mumbai, the IPC offences occurred within the jurisdiction of Kota. Consequently, the Court set aside the High Court's order and directed the police to investigate the cases as per law, thereby allowing the appeals.
