Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the High Court's finding of no negligence on the part of the deceased was upheld, but the compensation was reduced to Rs.3,25,000/- with interest at 6% per annum from the date of claim. The Court noted that the High Court had initially enhanced the compensation by Rs.204,000/- but the Supreme Court found it necessary to adjust the amount based on the evidence presented. The appeals were allowed to the extent of the revised compensation amount.
