Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court examined the applicability of the Madhya Pradesh Samaj Ke Kamjor Vargon Ke Krishi Bhumi-Dharakon Ka Udhar Dene Walon Ke Bhumi Hadapane Sambhandhi Kuchakron Se Paritran Tatha Mukti Adhiniyam, 1976, specifically Sections 2(c) and 5. The Court held that the appellants, who claimed to belong to the weaker section and had agricultural land within the prescribed limits, were entitled to relief under the Adhiniyam. The Court reversed the lower authorities' decisions that denied the appellants' status as 'holders of agricultural land' and reinstated their rights over the land in question.
