The Supreme Court addressed the appeal regarding the quantum of compensation awarded for loss of dependency following the untimely death of the deceased. The Court held that the High Court erred in not considering future prospects of income, and it should have taken into account the evidence of pay revisions provided by the appellants. The Court recalculated the monthly income of the deceased to be Rs.18,341/- and determined the loss of dependency accordingly, thereby increasing the total compensation awarded to Rs.XX,XXX/- with interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the date of the claim petition.
