Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court allowed the appeal challenging the Karnataka High Court's dismissal of a Land Reforms Review Petition, which confirmed the orders of the Land Reforms Appellate Authority and the Land Tribunal. The Court found that the surrender of land by Jinnappa Gowda under Section 4 of the Madras Cultivation and Tenant Protection Act, 1955 was valid, and the subsequent injunction obtained by Laxmi Hengsu was not sustainable. The Court held that the legal representatives of the original landlord were entitled to reclaim possession of the land, thus overturning the lower court's decision without costs.
