The Supreme Court held that the fee fixed by the Fee Committee at Rs.1,90,000 for payment seats in the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences is final and must be paid by students who secured admission against these seats for the academic years 2003-04 and 2004-05. The Court directed the college to refund the excess fee of Rs.2,50,000 paid by some students. Additionally, it acknowledged that 39 students admitted in 2005-06 against payment seats are to be treated as free seat students, liable to pay only Rs.34,500, with adjustments for any excess fees paid.
