Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court addressed the dispute between the Association of Management Studies (AMS) and the Meerut Development Authority (MDA) regarding the allotment of land for educational purposes under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973. The Court held that AMS's tender for land at a rate lower than the reserved price was not acceptable, and AMS's request to delete one plot from its offer was valid. The Court emphasized that the MDA must adhere to the statutory provisions while allotting land and that AMS is entitled to the land at the quoted rate of Rs.560/- per sq.m. for the 20,000 sq.m. plot.
