Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court clarified its earlier order dated 7th September 2006 regarding the payment of arrears of rent and interest thereon. The Court held that the interest on the arrears, calculated at 15% per annum, is payable not only for the period of arrears from August 1992 to March 2000 but also until the actual payment date. The Court emphasized that the intention was to ensure that interest accrues until the dues are fully paid, and allowed the applicant to raise further questions regarding interest before the Small Causes Court in Bombay.
