Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court addressed the issue of insurance coverage and limitation under the Limitation Act, 1963. It held that the insurance policy issued on 30.6.1989 provided coverage for one year, thus the machine was insured on the date of the fire accident on 10.2.1990. However, the Court ruled that the suit was barred by limitation as the time spent before the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission could not be excluded under Section 14 of the Limitation Act, 1963. Consequently, the appeal was dismissed, affirming the High Court's decision.
