The Supreme Court held that the directions issued by the Employees' State Insurance Court, which were upheld by the High Court, must be set aside due to the notification of the Food Corporation of India under Section 10 of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970. The Court recognized that the Food Corporation has its own employee coverage scheme, which serves as an alternative to the Employees' State Insurance Corporation's scheme. Consequently, the appeal was allowed, and the previous directions were annulled.
