Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court upheld the interim order dated 04.12.2006, directing that no coercive steps be taken against the appellant for non-payment of penal interest until the pending writ petitions are disposed of by the High Court. The Court restored the two writ appeals (W.A.Nos.2196 & 2197 of 2006) to their original numbers and mandated their expeditious disposal within six months. The Court clarified that it did not address the merits of the writ petitions, leaving that to the High Court.
