The Supreme Court held that the appellants are entitled to interest at the rate of 7.5% per annum on the withheld compensation amount of Rs.60,000 from 21.12.1984 until payment. The Court found that the delay in payment was due to an interim stay granted by the High Court, and thus the appellants should not be penalized for this delay. The respondent-Corporation was directed to pay the due amount with interest within four weeks of the judgment.
