Asha Rani & Ors vs Uttranchal S.R.T.C

The Supreme Court held that the appellants are entitled to interest at the rate of 7.5% per annum on the withheld compensation amount of Rs.60,000/- from 21.12.1984 until payment, due to the interim stay granted by the High Court which delayed the recovery of the compensation. The Court emphasized that the appellants should not suffer for the delay caused by the judicial process. The respondent-Corporation was directed to pay the due amount with interest within four weeks of the judgment.
