Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court allowed the appeals against the Jammu & Kashmir High Court's decision regarding the selection process for Gazetted Services, which was challenged on grounds of procedural irregularities and lack of proper decision-making by the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission. The Court found that the selection process was flawed due to errors in the examination and inadequate participation of Commission members, thus holding that the process was arbitrary and unconstitutional. The Court directed the Commission to conduct the Preliminary Examination afresh in accordance with the law.
